Your compliance score is a number from 0 to 100 that reflects how well your website's publicly visible content and business practices align with the consumer protection laws in the states you operate in. A higher score means fewer detected issues. Here's a rough guide:

80–100: Low risk — few or no significant issues detected.
60–79: Medium risk — some potential issues worth reviewing with counsel.
40–59: High risk — multiple potential gaps detected.
Below 40: Critical risk — issues that may warrant prompt review.

The score is a starting point, not a legal certification. Consult a licensed attorney before making compliance decisions.

No. ComplyGuard is an automated screening tool, not a law firm. Our reports are for informational purposes only and do not constitute legal advice or create an attorney-client relationship. AI-generated findings may contain errors. Always consult a qualified attorney licensed in your jurisdiction before acting on any finding.

Our rule database includes compliance rules for all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico (52 jurisdictions), plus federal consumer protection laws (FTC Act, Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, CAN-SPAM, etc.). Rules are based on published statutes and regulations as of our last update.

Free scans default to California for a strong baseline check. Limited plans cover up to 3 selected states. Nationwide plans cover all 50 states.

We recommend re-scanning whenever you make significant changes to your pricing, refund policy, terms of service, or marketing pages. We also recommend a full re-scan at least quarterly, since state consumer protection laws change frequently.

Monitor plan subscribers get automated monthly monitoring — ComplyGuard will alert you when a relevant law changes in your operating states so you can re-scan proactively.

The free scan gives you a preliminary compliance check including issue count, severity summary, and the names of your top 3 issues for one state (California by default).

Full compliance scores, detailed findings, fix recommendations, statute citations, and export require a paid plan (Snapshot or Monitor).

Snapshot is a one-time compliance report — best for a point-in-time diagnostic or cleanup. It includes a full report with prioritized findings, sample remediation language, statute citations, and one follow-up rescan within 30 days.

Monitor is ongoing protection — best for businesses whose site, offers, and policies change over time. It includes monthly monitoring, report history, trend tracking, email alerts, and manual rescans.

Limited plans cover up to 3 selected states. Choose the states where most of your customers are located.

Nationwide plans cover all 50 states. Best for businesses that sell to customers across the country or want comprehensive protection.

No. Current scope is public-facing pages and disclosures — your homepage, pricing page, refund policy, terms of service, warranty page, and marketing pages. Checkout flows, post-purchase emails, logged-in account areas, and internal systems are not included in the scan.

When you start a scan, ComplyGuard uses a headless browser to visit the URL you provide and crawl key pages — such as your homepage, pricing page, refund policy, warranty page, terms of service, and marketing pages. The crawler reads the text and structure of each page and passes it to our compliance engine for analysis.

The crawler respects your site's robots.txt file and only reads publicly visible content — it does not log in to any accounts or access protected pages.

Privacy tools (CMPs, cookie scanners, DSAR platforms) focus on data privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA — cookie consent, data collection disclosures, and opt-out mechanisms. ComplyGuard focuses on consumer protection laws that govern how you sell: pricing claims, refund policies, auto-renewal disclosures, warranty statements, advertising accuracy, and fee transparency. These are separate legal requirements. If you already use a privacy tool, ComplyGuard covers the areas it does not.

Cookie scanners typically check a single regulation (GDPR cookie consent) across your site. ComplyGuard analyzes your public pages against consumer protection statutes from 52 jurisdictions — each with different rules for pricing, refunds, subscriptions, warranties, advertising, and fees. The analysis is deeper and more jurisdiction-specific, which requires more extensive crawling and analysis per scan.

Yes. A Consent Management Platform handles cookie consent and data privacy opt-outs. It does not check whether your refund policy meets California disclosure requirements, whether your strike-through pricing complies with FTC guidelines, or whether your auto-renewal flow satisfies state-specific cancellation rules. ComplyGuard and a CMP address different regulatory areas.

Typically no. The ComplyGuard crawler makes a small number of standard HTTP requests — similar to a search engine bot — and should not cause any noticeable impact on your site's performance or traffic.

If your site has aggressive bot-blocking rules (e.g., strict CAPTCHA on all pages), the crawler may not be able to access some content. In that case, you can use our manual content upload feature to paste text or upload screenshots of specific pages.

Yes. If you realize you made an error in your questionnaire responses, you can update your answers and re-run the scan. Re-scanning uses one of your monthly scan credits (or you can purchase a new one-time audit). Your previous scan results are preserved so you can compare before and after.

Cancel anytime from your Account Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription, by emailing support@complyguard.us, or by calling (509) 795-4863. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain full access to paid features until then.

Refund eligibility: All subscriptions include a 7-day unconditional full refund — cancel within 7 days for a full refund regardless of use. For annual subscriptions, a prorated refund for the unused portion is available at any time after 7 days. Monthly subscriptions: after 7 days, you keep access through the end of the billing period. See our refund policy for complete details.

After cancellation, your account reverts to the Free tier and your scan history remains accessible. Your data is retained for 30 days after account deletion.

Each Monitor subscription covers one website. Your subscription is locked to the first website you scan, and all subsequent scans and monitoring apply to that site.

If you need to scan multiple websites, create a separate account for each site. Each account gets its own subscription and monitoring. You can also use our Snapshot one-time audits for ad-hoc scans of different URLs without a subscription.

ComplyGuard can scan any publicly accessible website regardless of platform. We have enhanced detection and analysis for:

Shopify (including Shopify Markets and subscription apps)
WooCommerce
BigCommerce
— Custom-built storefronts

We automatically detect your platform during the crawl and apply platform-specific compliance checks where relevant (for example, Shopify's auto-generated refund policy language).

All plans include email support at support@complyguard.us. Response times by plan:

Free tier: Within 7 business days
Monitor Limited: Within 24 hours
